Adding new Exchange account to Outlook
Click on the
Windows Logo
(bottom left of the screen) and then
Control Panel
.
Change the view from
Category
to
Large Icons
and click on
Mail
.
Click on
Email Accounts
.
Under the
Email
tab click
New
Tick the box beside
Manually configure server settings or additional server types
and click
Next
.
Select
Microsoft Exchange
and click
Next
Enter the location of your Exchange server and then the email address of the user. Then click on
More Settings
.
You may receive the following error:
The action could not be completed. The connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.
Click
OK
followed by
Cancel
. You will see the more settings dialog box then.
Under the
Connection
tab ensure that
Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP
is ticked and the click on
Exchange Proxy Settings
.
Enter the URL for your proxy server and ensure that you only connect to proxy servers with the principal name in their certificate (in the example msstd:*.lushsoft.com). Also ensure that both fast and slow networks use HTTP first and that Basic Authentication is selected. Click
OK
.
Click
OK
again and you will now be returned to the original screenshot above. Click on
Check Names
.
You will be asked for a username and password. The username is that detailed at the bottom of your user account in DotNetPanel. If you do not have access to this speak to your system administrator who will be able to provide this information for you. The password is your usual login password.
Your email address will change to the account name. Click
Next
and then
Finish
.
Now you can open Outlook. You will be prompted, again, for the username and password (again, the username is as detailed in DotNetPanel above) - this prompting happens everything you open Outlook (except in Outlook 2010 where you are given the option for Outlook to remember your password).
